Compliant EU e-invoices for every B2B order.

Missivo is a Shopify app for EU B2B e-invoicing. When a B2B order is paid, it verifies the buyer’s VAT number against VIES, generates the e-invoice format their country legally requires, and can deliver it over the Peppol network.

You do nothing. Invoices simply appear in your dashboard with their verification and delivery status, ready to download as PDF or XML.

  • $29/month
  • 14-day free trial
  • No storefront or checkout changes

How it works

Three steps, none of them yours.

Missivo sits between a paid Shopify order and the invoice your buyer’s finance team is legally entitled to receive.

  1. 01

    A B2B order is paid

Missivo watches your store for paid orders that carry company and VAT details. Nothing changes on your storefront, your theme, or your checkout.

  2. 02

    VAT verified, invoice generated

The buyer's VAT number is checked against VIES, the EU's official registry — the evidence behind 0% reverse-charge invoicing. Missivo then builds the e-invoice in the format that buyer's country requires.

  3. 03

    Delivered or downloaded

Send the invoice over the Peppol network through a certified access point, or download the PDF and XML from your dashboard. Either way the status is recorded against the order.

What you get

Everything cross-border invoicing actually demands.

The unglamorous parts of EU e-invoicing — verification, formats, transport, archive — handled once and then forgotten about.

  • VIES VAT verification

Every B2B buyer's VAT number is checked against the European Commission's VIES registry, and the result is stored with the invoice as reverse-charge evidence.

  • Country-correct formats

Factur-X for France, XRechnung and UBL for Germany, Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 elsewhere. The format is chosen from the buyer's country, not left to you.

  • Peppol e-delivery

Invoices can be transmitted electronically over the Peppol network via a certified access point, straight into the buyer's finance system.

  • Zero-touch automation

The whole thing is triggered by the order-paid event. No manual exports, no spreadsheets, no invoicing ritual at the end of the month.

  • Built on EN 16931

Documents follow the European semantic standard for electronic invoicing that every national format is built on top of.

  • Invoice archive

Every invoice stays in your dashboard with its verification and delivery status, downloadable as PDF or XML whenever you or your accountant need it.

FAQ

Questions worth asking first.

Do I need to change my theme or checkout?

No. Missivo works entirely from the Shopify admin side — no storefront changes, no theme edits, no checkout extensions. You install it, fill in your company’s invoicing details once, and it starts picking up paid B2B orders.

What is VIES verification?

VIES is the European Commission’s VAT Information Exchange System — the official registry used to confirm that a VAT number is valid and registered for cross-border trade in the EU.

If you invoice another EU business at 0% under the reverse-charge rules, you are expected to be able to show that you checked. Missivo runs that check for each B2B order and keeps the result alongside the invoice.

What formats are generated?

Factur-X 1.x for France, XRechnung and UBL 2.1 for Germany, and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 for the rest of the EU. All of them are built on the EN 16931 semantic model, so the same order data produces the document each destination expects.

What is Peppol?

Peppol is the European network businesses and public bodies use to exchange e-invoices. Instead of emailing a PDF that someone has to retype, the invoice travels between certified access points and lands directly in the recipient’s finance system. Missivo can send your invoices over Peppol through a certified access point.

Which orders get invoices?

B2B orders — the ones that carry a company name and VAT details. Ordinary consumer orders are left alone, so nothing changes for your retail customers.
